Baikal Nedra Geo LLC in cooperation with Russian Drilling Company LLC has started the drilling program of the project. This is the first time drilling is carried out on the Synnyr massif. Specifically for these tasks, a continuous-cycle core processing workshop was erected at the Taborny shift settlement, which includes a core acceptance zone, drying, documentation, sawing, sampling and long-term core storage zones. The first drill hole immediately showed that the assumption of a more gentle bedding of the ore bodies was correct. The zenith angle of drilling was approved for the entire drilling program, which made it possible to pass the ore bodies crosswise as much as possible, thus reducing drilling costs and improving the quality of geological studies.
Drilling was carried out in winter with the Board Longyear LF90 rig, with no breakdowns or failures. In the first stage 22 wells with total meterage of 9081 lm were drilled. 2420 core samples were collected and delivered to St. Petersburg for sample preparation. A complex of GIS was carried out on the wells, the deviations of the boreholes were within the acceptable tolerance.
